The Web According to Google #85: Resistance is Futile

1. I regularly use Google Search, Google Images Search, Google Sites, Google Calendar, and Gmail. I periodically use Google Maps, Google Earth, Google Scholar, and Google Books.

I prefer Google Search (both text and image) to Bing because most of the time Google gives me the results I want and it's familiar. I use Bing Image search as a backup.

I prefer Google maps to Mapquest, although this morning I discovered that the Google satellite shot I wanted was captured in 2008 and the Mapquest satellite shot was captured (so it claimed) in 2010. However, an extension to TC Jester Road that was started in late 2009 was not indicated on the allegely newer Mapquest satellite shot. Go figure...

I joined Gmail several years ago to avoid the spam that was suddenly appearing in my hotmail and canada.com accounts.

2. I just transliterated an email to my husband into Greek characters and sent it to him. I don't know why I would use transliterated English characters but it's fun to know that it's there!

3. Google Books: I use this periodically to find obscure items for my customers. Today I toured the magazines section, remembering that I had not thought of this resource when, a few weeks back, some high school students were looking for resources about American lifestyles in the 1970's.
